I just wanted to thank you for the JKini. It arrived last Tuesday (1 week delivery, I was amazed), right before I was going on a vacation to the seaside (there’s no internet there). I installed it by myself (it took about 30 min, without removing the soft top). I just opened the front part and got no broken nails, just some scratches on my fingers…
For those of you that can’t see these tops in person, let us tell you order now before summer is over and you’ve lost another year of sun hidden behind your bikini top.
It’s been a little more than a year, and our Spider Web Shade still catches the attention of sun-worshipping Jeepers. Most popular question? How’s it holding up?
The SpiderWeb Shade’s have performed far better than expectations, and those expectations were set pretty high after hearing the company’s praise of their product.
Over a year later and the material seems every bit as pliable as it did on day one. There is no brittleness or hardening of the screen material from the constant UV rays here at an altitude of nearly one mile up (with less UV-filtering atmosphere above us, the intense rays degrade things very quickly here in Utah).
We had two expected weak points when we installed the top a year ago. One was the grommets. Frankly we didn’t think they would last. If you don’t already know why, cover a load you’re transporting with a tarp and secure it by the grommets. It doesn’t take too many trips or hours on the road before the grommets rip away from the tarp. Not the case with the Spider Web Shade. There is a small amount of stretching of the screen material; but zero pull-away of the grommets from the screen. We think this speaks more than anything for the quality construction of this top.
And what about the second of the two “expected” weak points… the Spider Balls? The top is attached to the Jeep by elastic, stretchy, cords (a bungee cord loop with a ball on one end), or in this case a Spider Ball. We expected the UV to take its toll on the rubbery material causing the Spider Balls to either lose their stretch, fail, or both. We can happily report neither has occurred one year (16 months to be specific) later.
Final Thoughts
When we first installed these tops, we knew we liked them. A year later, we LOVE them! The SpiderWeb Shade tops have been stretched over our Jeeps 24/7 for months with almost zero wear. We feel it’s only deserving to assign this product our TOP CHOICE designation.
Great product. Here are some pics of it on my new 2010 Deepwater Blue Rubicon. My dog loves the shade it provides! I cannot believe how quiet it is. We were doing 65mph with a 15-20mph head wind making the wind across the hood 80-85mph. We did have the doors on and windows up, but the soft top was totally down and my wife and I could carry on a conversation with no problem. Very fast shipping. I got it in 2 to 3 days from Florida to the Midwest area.
I saw this on a jeep out on a trail ride and thought I would pick one up… It blocks some of the wind and alot of the sun. I mostly got it for my 4 month old daughter. With the top down the sun was a but much. I put it over the rear seat and the cargo area and down the roll bars in the back. I think it looks pretty cool too! And from the looks of my daughter, she seems to like it!
Just got my SW1 JK-2D Ultramesh in the mail today. Love the extremely fast processing of the order and shipping! I put the top up in less than 5 minutes, and it fits great! Took it out for a drive and it doesn’t flap, add any extra noise, or anything negative to the ride at all. What it does do is keep the seats and inside much cooler with the sun beating down on you. I love this product! Thank you for keeping in touch with the jeepers and listening to feedback and for making such a great product. I will definitely look here first if I need to upgrade or buy a replacement. Thanks again.
I ordered my SW1 on Wednesday and received it Friday. Fast delivery for sure. Installation only took about 12 minutes. AND I love this top. After I installed it I headed for the highway. I first noticed that I didn’t need my hat anymore as the sun was not cooking my head. Next I noticed the wind was reduced considerably. My wife noticed it more as she said her hair wasn’t blowing all over. Then came the 60 m.p.h test….wooo hooo wind was reduced and stereo was even easier to hear at lower volume. What are you guys coming up with next? I know I’ll want one….Keep Up The Good Work and THANKS.
This is the perfect solution for Jeepers who love to go topless, need some UV protection, and fight the very sporadic and unpredictable rain showers.
I have been using a Bestop Sahara top (no drill header) but it is a real hassle to take off when I need to put my top up during sudden rain storms. The SpiderWeb Shade top fits perfectly over your roll cage. It provides shade wind protection. Best of all, when it rains, you can throw your top on OVER the shade without having to remove it.
The company customer service is great. I ordered this late Friday afternoon and received it Monday morning. Install took around 15 minutes.
For the price, you cannot beat this Shade top for your Jeep.
I recently purchased two SW1 shades for my roomate’s and my Jeep. What a difference these make! In Houston it gets stupid hot and these make you feel like you’re under a tree. I swear it seems like they help keep the heat out when the top is closed as well. That heat that comes directly off the top seems to be soaked up by the SpiderWeb. Maybe I’m crazy. Also, the service is great! I had a small tear in mine from possible install error which I disclosed to the SpiderWeb staff. They did not hesitate to send me a replacement. This is a great company and a must have product for all Jeepers. IMO. I do not work for these guys, just a happy customer.
Obviously when I saw the new material on the ShadeCage I thought: “Oh no they fixed what wasn’t broken”. When I opened the box the shade cage was rolled tightly for shipping and it looked like sequined dress material! Unfortunately I had to wait till Saturday to install but the weather is perfect! I have totally changed my mind after installing this on my Jeep! I was a little sad as I uninstalled my SW1 and installed the ShadeCage. Today the sun is super bright and as I installed this I have no problem with how this looks on my Jeep. Another doubt I had in my mind was that it might be ovenlike in the back seat with this on but with the sun extremely hot today, I sat in the back seat and it is cooler under the ShadeCage! I am extremely happy so far and apologise for my initial reaction! Not sure when our baby will be visiting again but this looks like a must have for me!
I am really pleased with my SW2 top!! I received super fast shipping from you guys and installed it as soon as i got it!! it went on easy, just as in the videos on your website, and the first install took me maybe 10 minutes..as soon as i started down our country roads,i could tell the difference..my 11 year old son and i looked at each other at the the same time and said “WOW!!-ITS SO MUCH QUIETER!!” we can now talk to each other without yelling!! amazing how much better the mesh is than the solid bikini top i had on…not sure how it works, but it does!! thanks again!!!
I got my SW-3 last week and I couldn’t be happier. I thought I’d post some pics because I know lots of folks are thinking about getting something like this for the upcoming dog days.
I got the SW-3, which is 3 seperate pieces: over the cab, over the cargo area, and a wind-jammer for behind the seats. I got the SW-3 because having all 3 pieces is really versatile. Sometimes you want it all, sometimes you just want 1 piece.
This product works here in the smothering heat and humidity of Alabama. It’s noticeably cooler in the Jeep, and the wind noise and wind whipping is definitely reduced. My wife loves it because her hair doesn’t get nearly as messed up.
Best of all, the SW-3 is only $99, and that’s without the JF discount that I heard about after I bought mine.
One word of caution: The wind-jammer really darkens your rear view. If you have the wind-jammer and the cargo piece installed at the same time, your rear view is REALLY dark, making it extremely difficult to see behind you. Be careful, especially at dawn and dusk. Side mirrors are a must with these two pieces installed. It’s not hazardous, but extra attention should be paid.
Wow! I could not believe that this top arrived so quickly. It went on very easy and my Jeep looks awesome. My SW1 fits tight, is quiet, and gives the perfect amount of shade for the front and back . Thank you guys for the great service and product. G.S. from Bakersfield, Ca.
I was finally able to put my spiderweb top on this weekend.
I am very pleased at how sturdy it is attached. That top isn’t going anywhere. There isn’t any noise at all from it and you hardly even notice it is there.
Thanks spiderweb It fits great and does exactly what it is supposed to do. I would recommend this top to anyone.
I was able to use the one they sent me yesterday. It installed easy and looked nice. It was a pain to get the front corners straped around the bar and under the plastic trim but once I figured it out it was easy to install. I was able to install mine right up to the windshield header , maybe 1 inch of gap. I will say at 6?3? tall my head hits it when I lean forward. You will see in the pictures I tried flipping the bungee balls to the top to see if it would raise it up a bit but my head still rubbed when I leaned forward. Other than that I think it is good product. There was no flapping in the wind and the sun was blocked just enough as to still feel open but shaded some. It will be nice on hot sunny days when you don’t want to fry. All things considered I like this top but I wish I was 6? instead of 6?3?. Here are my 2dr pics.
It had 2 more straps for the front but they were too long. The set should come with 10 long and 3 short bungees and when you put the top up you can take the two little ones off the clamp area.
here you see the balls are up but it did not raise it any. I even tried the one bungee around the surround screw but it was too loose that way. It looks much better with the balls down!!!
Ok so the weather was good today finally and I just got done working 16 straight days of 10’s So… I dropped the top and put the windjammer part of the SW3 on. The fit was good and the reduction in wind from the back seats was great. A little bit of a struggle getting the lower corner bungees on (helps to slide the seats forward). Again the quality is good, as to be expected from SpiderWeb. Got lots of compliments. These tops are great Like said I have the SW1 that my GF got me last fathers day and I still have a soft spot for it. The versatility of these top is one of the most appealing things in my book. the nice thing is they let in enough sun with out the burn. I do recommend them. Here’s some pics:
